All Girl Mentorship Program

GIRLS CAN'T DO WHAT?
2019 Registration OPEN!

This innovative program is exclusively for teenage girls, and is designed to provide mentorship tailored specifically to their needs.  These young women meet with female police officers for bi-weekly sessions during their lunch break at school.  Meetings include discussions on issues relevant to high school girls, such as teen pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases, nutrition and physical fitness, and substance abuse.  The goal of this program is to build relationships between these students and the police department and to create a safe environment in which they can address sensitive issues.  We strive to instill a sense of empowerment in these young women, by teaching them that with a positive attitude and hard work, it is possible to achieve their goals.  Being female doesn't have to limit them.  Girls CAN do anything.

This program is currently offered at Oxon Hill High School.  If you are interested in implementing the program at your school, please contact Cpl. Taylor at [email protected].
